Freedom Ride
07/04/16
My wife and I attended a Freedom Ride on July 4th, 2016 in our bobbed deuce with a few Jeep clubs! The event started at Cou-Yon's BBQ in Port Allen, LA. After grabbing lunch with the Jeepers we travelled down River Road to New Roads where we took a pit stop at the Sand Bar restaurant at the banks of False River. Next we drove to St. Francisville and crossed over the new Audubon Bridge (people used to take a ferry). The next stop was a tour of Tunica Hills near the Angola
State Prison. I had my doubts if the deuce would fit through the tight trails, but we made it out successfully without even locking the hubs or using 4wd. After leaving Tunica Hills we stopped back in St. Francisville to top off for fuel. Most of the Jeepers continued to Plaquemine where they caught the ferry to the other side of the Mississippi River. They all stayed to watch the Baton Rouge fireworks show from the levee near L'Auberge casino. My wife and I opted to travel back
home instead. What a journey! It was about 200 miles round trip. No issues.
